Airport Tycoon 2 Amenity Tier List

First snack is S-tier. Statement fountains are A once people can reach them.

Amenity Tier List

Amenities are why Airport Tycoon 2 looks like a toy store and still plays like a tycoon. The first amenity badge is Snack Tax. Official screenshots then show a giant sundae, a globe fountain with a gold jet, luggage storage, and seating under Gate B1/C1. This list ranks them by job: feed the opening loop, hold high-value guests, then decorate.

S — First amenity (Snack Tax)

Buy it. The badge exists because the designers want that click. Vending / snack kiosks in starter playthroughs are cheap and sit on the path from security to gate. S-tier is not “highest dollar,” it is “unlocks the amenity economy.”

Without this, you are running a sterile tube. Tickets still pay, but you miss the dwell layer the money guide cares about.

A — Seating, fountain, path magnets

Completion videos talk about a fountain that makes passengers “not want to leave.” That is an A-tier money tool when Legendary guests exist. Seating around the fountain is part of the same rank. Place magnets after the scanner, not in a dead alcove.

Luggage belts and storage are A if they sit on the walking line. They are C if you hide them behind a wall nobody routes through.

B — Restaurants and bigger food

A full restaurant that “only makes $8” in an early clip is teaching you B-tier: extra spend, not a replacement for destinations. Build it when the queue is stable and you want another reason for rares to linger. The giant sundae in the Gate B1 screenshot is this fantasy at max scale — buy the scaled version when the floor exists, not in the tutorial closet.

C — Pure decoration

Trees, extra signs, duplicate statues. Fine after S/A. They help screenshots and co-op pride. They do not fix a one-lane airport.

D — Amenity before security

A sundae next to a single broken scanner is D. People cannot spend if they cannot enter. Line Buster outranks any dessert.

Pathing rules

Stand on a high camera (see controls) and trace:

Scanner → snack → seating/fountain → gate.

If the line crosses itself, you built a mall, not an airport. Expansions after Update 5 are cash-only, so buy floor when the path needs width, not because the button sparkles.

Luck synergy

Amenities do not spawn Legendaries. Luck does. Amenities keep them. If VIP Passenger never pops, read the Legendary page and the rebirth luck bump instead of stacking a third restaurant.

Co-op build split

Partner B (shopper) owns this list. Partner A owns lanes. Do not let both of you decorate while the queue dies. The co-op guide assigns those roles.

World 2

A winter airport will add seasonal stalls. Hot drinks will probably behave like snacks (S if they are the first seasonal amenity, B if you already own Snack Tax). We will not invent a cocoa stand until it is in the client. Watch World 2.

Sibling pages: planes, destinations, hub at tier list. Named food from current-game videos: vending machine (tutorial, one guest spent $200), cafe, ice cream stand (the giant sundae in official art; early clips ~$10 per person before upgrades), pizza parlor, merch shop. Passives: luggage storage (no upgrades), lost and found after an expansion cutscene, parking meters. Fountain is +10% luck, not a snack. Plants, lamps, carpets, trash cans, and ATC after expansions are quality / late buys.

Opening order remains Getting Started.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the first amenity I should buy?

Whatever grants Snack Tax — usually a snack or vending buy on the path from security to the gate.

Are fountains worth the cash?

Yes after lanes work. They hold passengers, which matters more once Rare and Legendary guests appear.

Why is my restaurant making almost nothing?

Too few people reach it, or your tickets are all Commons. Fix pathing, security, and luck first.

Do expansions count as amenities?

No. Expansions add floor. Amenities fill that floor. Room for More is a walkthrough badge, not Snack Tax.
